About Answering TTP Canada

Answering TTP Canada is a group of dedicated volunteers made up of Canadian patients who have survived TTP, and family and friends of those who have had TTP.

Many of us came together as a part of the original Answering TTP Foundation, and have continued to work to support patients after the Answering TTP Foundation wound down their formal efforts in 2024.

Our current focus is on preparing a patient submission to Canada’s Drug Agency (CDA-AMC) in support of their re-examination of Cablivi (caplacizumab) for the treatment of adults with aTTP.

Our Current Project

Improving Access to Caplacizumab in Canada

Caplacizumab, also known as Cablivi, is a treatment for adults experiencing acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, or aTTP — a rare, life-threatening blood disorder that causes dangerous tiny clots to form throughout the body.

This treatment helps stop platelets from clumping together too much, giving standard emergency therapies like plasma exchange and immune-suppressing medication a better chance to control the disease.

CDA-AMC has recommended that caplacizumab be publicly reimbursed under certain conditions, but access is still not guaranteed for all Canadians who may need it.

Answering TTP Canada is working to support broader access to caplacizumab and advocate for its availability across Canada, so people facing aTTP can receive timely treatment when it matters most.

Thank You Answering TTP Foundation

Answering TTP Foundation was a beacon of hope and constant source of support to TTP patients and their families for over a decade.

Following their closure we have taken strides to continue their work as volunteers.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Sydney, the Board, and the many volunteers who worked tirelessly to support patients, raise awareness, and advance research for TTP as part of the Foundation. Many of us wouldn’t be here today without Syd and the Foundation, and we are very grateful for their efforts.
